From the Heart....
The actions of an elementary age child who pushes his classmates around are coming from a troubled heart—a heart filled with anger and disappointment. A heart locked for self-protection. From one end of the spectrum to the other, too many of today’s children are growing up without their heart needs being met, which always results in trouble on the outside.
Bullies are in desperate need of acceptance. The chances are great they are suffering from one of three difficult scenarios in their upbringing:
• They are being indulged without discipline
• They are being disciplined harshly
• They are being exposed to too much, too soon
The results are the same. They struggle with their identity. They struggle with anger and heartache. They struggle to find a place where they belong, and yet build walls around them to keep others out.
Your classroom can be the place where they find acceptance and understanding.
